Turner Construction Company is commemorating its 123rd anniversary with a monthlong celebration rooted in service. Throughout May, Turner employees across the globe are participating in Founders’ Month, a tradition that blends community engagement with the company’s deep-seated values.

Founded in May 1902, Turner has grown to become one of the most recognizable names in the construction industry. Yet even with its national and global reach, the company remains grounded in a local, people-first philosophy. Founders’ Month, observed annually, gives more than 13,000 Turner employees the chance to step away from job sites and into communities to make a difference.

This year’s Founders’ Month theme centers on “Underserved Youth,” reflecting a growing focus within the construction industry on equity, education, and the future workforce. Turner teams are partnering with local nonprofits, schools, and community organizations to provide hands-on help and inspiration to young people facing adversity.

“Founders’ Month is a powerful reflection of Turner’s Active Caring culture and honors our founding values through service,” said Fuquan Collins, Vice President, Turner Construction Company. “This year’s theme, ‘Underserved Youth,’ highlights the critical need to support young people facing significant challenges. Throughout the month, our people will partner with local community organizations to volunteer and create meaningful change for youth in need. One act of kindness can change a life. Our collective actions can help build brighter futures for youth and create lasting impact through service.”

From hosting mentorship workshops and career-readiness events to cleaning and renovating youth shelters and community centers, Turner volunteers are taking a hands-on approach. Across the company’s numerous offices, Founders’ Month serves as an opportunity to embody Turner’s values outside of the traditional construction setting.

“Founders’ Month is a celebration of Turner’s giving spirit,” said Pamyla Fountain Brown, Vice President, Turner Construction Company. “It’s inspiring to see our teams come together to serve others, especially underserved youth who deserve every opportunity to thrive. The tradition of Founders’ Month honors our roots and reflects the heart of who we are. By investing our time and talents, we’re not just building stronger communities but building a better future for all.”

Turner’s commitment to corporate citizenship has long been a cornerstone of its identity. While the company is known for constructing iconic buildings and infrastructure, it also prioritizes building social capital and trust in the places where it works.

Initiatives during Founders’ Month range from neighborhood improvement projects to resource drives supporting students in need. Employees are encouraged to take paid volunteer time to participate, and Turner’s leadership reinforces service as an integral part of company culture.

As construction companies nationwide look to inspire the next generation of builders, Turner is setting an example by investing in youth, education, and equity—not just through buildings, but through community action.

Through Founders’ Month, Turner Construction continues to show that legacy is not just about how long a company has been around, but about the lasting impact it makes in the lives of others.
