W. M. Jordan Company received five honours at the ABC Virginia Excellence in Construction Awards, recognising safety leadership, project execution and collaboration across transportation, mixed-use and educational construction.
The Virginia-based construction company announced the awards on October 26, 2026. John Nichols was named Safety Professional of the Year, the first recipient in the newly introduced category. The recognition highlights the role of safety leadership in construction operations and jobsite practices.
The awards also recognised project teams working on facilities intended to support transportation operations, community development and technical education.
The Norfolk International Airport Concourse A and Federal Inspection Services facility expansion received an Honor Award in the Transportation Facilities category. The project is intended to improve passenger experience and operational efficiency at the airport.
Atlantic Park in Virginia Beach received a Mega Project Honor Award. The mixed-use development also earned the Allegiance Award, which recognises the project involving the highest number of ABC Virginia member companies.
The two awards highlight different aspects of project delivery: the scale of a major development and coordination among multiple construction industry participants.
The VPCC Newport News Trade Center received an Honorable Mention in the Educational Public and Private Schools category. The facility is designed to support hands-on technical education and workforce development.
Together, the recognised projects span airport infrastructure, mixed-use development and educational facilities. The awards also reflect the involvement of project teams and trade partners across multiple construction sectors.
The awards highlight the range of work being delivered by Virginia construction teams, from transportation facilities and large-scale mixed-use developments to technical education spaces. Recognition for safety leadership also underscores the importance of jobsite safety practices alongside project quality and delivery.
Atlantic Park's Allegiance Award further illustrates the coordination required on projects involving numerous contractors and trade partners. For the regional construction market, these projects demonstrate how collaboration across disciplines supports the delivery of complex facilities.
