Will Oklahoma’s $31.9M Highway Grant Be Approved Under Trump?

Caroline Raffetto

Questions have emerged about whether the $1.2 billion in grants, awarded in November to Oklahoma and 36 other states for the use of cleaner materials like asphalt, concrete, glass, and steel in highway construction, will actually be funded under a second Trump administration.

Oklahoma is set to receive $31,933,577, with Kansas, Missouri, and Colorado also awarded the same amount. New Mexico is slated for $29,819,424, while Texas was not included in the funding list.

The allocated funds are designed to assist Oklahoma’s transportation department in studying, tracking, and purchasing low-carbon materials for highway projects. However, as reported by Canary Media, the program faces the risk of funding cuts if a Trump administration returns to power. This raises the crucial question: how much of Oklahoma’s nearly $32 million grant will ultimately reach the state’s transportation department?
