The project will be delivered through a joint venture between Zachry and Traylor Bros., Inc. under a modified progressive design-build contract. The new crossing will span Lake Texoma, a critical corridor for transportation, commerce and tourism in southeastern Oklahoma.
Opened in 1945, the existing Roosevelt Bridge has served as a key connection between Bryan and Marshall counties for more than 80 years. The replacement project is aimed at modernizing the corridor to better serve current and future traffic demands while improving safety and reliability.
The scope of work includes construction of a new four-lane bridge on a new alignment, complete with shoulders, a median barrier and accommodations for bicycles and pedestrians. Crews will also demolish and remove the existing structure once the new bridge is operational.
Importantly, traffic will continue to flow on the current bridge during construction, minimizing disruptions for commuters, commercial transport and visitors to the Lake Texoma region.
“Entering Oklahoma with a project of this significance is an important milestone for Zachry,” said Travis Mross, president of Zachry Construction. “The Roosevelt Bridge is a vital connection for the communities around Lake Texoma and an important corridor for regional mobility and economic activity. We look forward to delivering infrastructure for ODOT and serving Oklahomans for the long term.”
The project is expected to deliver a wider roadway, upgraded lighting systems and modern safety features, along with improved structural resilience to meet future demands.
The Zachry-Traylor joint venture combines extensive experience in heavy civil and bridge construction. Traylor Construction Group, the parent organization of Traylor Bros., has delivered more than 135 complex bridge projects nationwide, including cable-stayed and segmental structures.
“Traylor is honored to be part of the Zachry/Traylor team selected to help deliver this important bridge replacement for ODOT,” said Greg Cangelosi, Southern Area Manager for Traylor Bros., Inc. “This project reflects the team's combined experience and a shared focus on delivering complex infrastructure that improves safety, enhances connectivity and maintains mobility throughout construction.”

The team will collaborate with Parsons and MKEC Engineering, Inc. to advance design and construction, working closely with ODOT to ensure long-term value for the state.
ODOT has set a target completion date of Oct. 1, 2029. Upon completion, the new Roosevelt Bridge is expected to provide a safer, more efficient crossing while supporting economic growth and regional connectivity across the Lake Texoma area.
The project underscores continued investment in U.S. infrastructure modernization, particularly in rural and regional corridors that play a key role in economic development and mobility.
