Cityside Fiber has officially launched construction on its next major network build—this time in Laguna Hills—marking another milestone for the fast-growing Orange County–based fiber-optic internet provider. Announced on Nov. 24, the project represents the company’s seventh full-city deployment and continues Cityside Fiber’s rapid expansion across South Orange County.
The company, which already operates in Mission Viejo, Lake Forest, Dana Point, Irvine and other nearby communities, is positioning this build as part of a broader effort to deliver faster, more reliable connectivity for homes, businesses, and future smart-city infrastructure across the region. With construction already underway, Cityside Fiber expects the first Laguna Hills residents to come online as early as December.
“We're excited to expand our fiber-optic network to our seventh city, Laguna Hills,” said Rod Hanson, CEO of Cityside Fiber. “At Cityside Fiber, we take a customer-first approach, and we're looking forward to delivering a faster, more reliable internet option to residents and businesses across the Laguna Hills community.”
Local leadership has also welcomed the project. “I welcome Cityside Fiber, a new California Public Utilities Commission-regulated internet provider, as they begin work to expand high-speed fiber service in our community,” said Joshua Sweeney, Mayor of Laguna Hills. “While this construction will require temporary trenching and street paving restoration work to lay new fiber-optic cable, it is an important investment in our infrastructure and our future. With a new internet provider in the marketplace, there should be increased competition, which in turn should drive down prices, improve service quality, and give residents and businesses more choices for their internet needs.”
Expanded Context & Additional Details
Cityside Fiber’s service packages—1 Gig, 2 Gig, and 5 Gig symmetrical plans—are built on 100% fiber-to-the-premise technology. These speeds, combined with low-latency performance and enhanced reliability, are designed for modern bandwidth-heavy lifestyles such as multi-device streaming, 4K/8K media, cloud gaming, remote work, video conferencing, and advanced smart-home automation.
The company is emphasizing its concierge-style customer support, a feature that sets it apart in a region where customers often express frustration with traditional copper-based providers. Beyond residential service, Cityside Fiber also delivers wholesale fiber solutions tailored for businesses, municipal users, enterprise campuses, and future-forward infrastructure such as 5G small cells and smart city sensor networks.
The construction in Laguna Hills includes trenching and underground fiber placement, a process that involves temporary roadway disruption but results in long-term improvements to bandwidth capacity and overall digital capability for the city. Cityside Fiber notes that these upgrades are designed to position Laguna Hills for next-generation connectivity, future-proofing the community as digital demand continues to accelerate.
Residents and businesses can now check availability or pre-register for early access at the company’s official site.
