Clark Construction Wins Bid to Build Virginia Foundation for Public Media's New Richmond Headquarters
Virginia Public Media (VPM) has announced the selection of Clark Construction Group to build its new state-of-the-art headquarters in Richmond, Virginia.
A Hub for Public Media:
This five-story, 54,000-square-foot facility will be a central hub for VPM's operations, featuring:
- Modern news and radio broadcast studios
- Dedicated podcast and music recording studios
- Administrative, conference, and meeting spaces
A separate building will house ground-level retail connected to a five-story parking garage, conveniently situated between the VPM headquarters and the retail space.
Enriching the Community:
This new facility goes beyond just housing VPM's day-to-day operations. A portion of the building, including a rooftop space, is specifically designed to host community and special events, fostering engagement and educational opportunities for all ages.
Elevating VPM's Impact:
The new audio, television, and digital production studios will empower VPM to further its mission as a trusted resource for Virginians. Residents will continue to have access to a wider range of high-quality programming covering arts and culture, history, science, news, and education.
Project Details:
- Construction is expected to begin in Summer 2024 within the Historic Monroe Ward, strategically chosen for its accessibility and ability to meet VPM's evolving technological needs.
- The project team includes SMBW as the project architect and Dunbar as the structural engineer.
- Completion is targeted for Winter 2025, with the facility designed to achieve LEED Silver certification for sustainable building practices.
