CSArch Announces 2024 Principal Promotions

CSArch is excited to share the promotions of three deserving individuals in recognition of their leadership, mentorship, growth, and commitment to project excellence at CSArch.

Kyle Smith
Promoted to PrincipalA 2006 graduate of Alfred State College, Kyle joined the firm in 2007 and consistently represents CSArch’s values for client relationships, mentorship, and design excellence. Since earning his professional registration as a licensed architect in 2021, Kyle has quickly grown into a trusted Senior Project Manager and is often commended by clients including Warrensburg CSD, Hoosic Valley CSD, AuSable Valley CSD, and Granville CSD for his responsiveness and strong project leadership.

In addition to his project responsibilities, Kyle is a champion for cultivating a positive company culture at CSArch. He spearheaded the development of CSArch’s mentorship program and is a trusted resource to young design professionals within the firm. Kyle is often involved in planning office events and community service opportunities, having been an active participant in CSArch’s Helping Hands group and member of our Capital Region CANstruction team for many years.


Matthew Zyrkowski
Promoted to PrincipalA Senior Project Manager with CSArch since 2019, Matt was promoted to Principal in recognition of his dedication to the firm, the profession, and his clients. Since joining the firm, Matt has taken on increased leadership responsibilities for our Newburgh office, including day-to-day office management, staff scheduling, and mentorship to young professionals. He is a resource to staff for his expertise in specifications, code compliance, QA/QC, and building assessment practices, continuously looking to enhance efficiencies and project management processes across the firm.

The respect Matt has earned from his colleagues carries into the level of attention and project management expertise he provides to each of his clients. Regarded by Executive Principal Thomas Ritzenthaler as the “first to arrive and last to leave,” his work ethic and dedication to project excellence contribute to strong relationships with clients including the City School District of New Rochelle, Boys and Girls Club of Newburgh, and Hyde Park CSD.


Zachary Malison
Promoted to Managing PrincipalFollowing his graduation from Binghamton University in 2009, Zach joined CSArch as one of the first members of our in-house MEP engineering department. Over the past 14 years, Zach has received his Professional Engineering license, taken on the Project Manager role for several engineering focused K-12 projects, and grown to become the firm’s Director of Engineering in 2021. He is actively involved in business development, staff scheduling, and strategic planning initiatives and consistently strives to enhance processes for the betterment of our engineering practice and the firm as a whole.

Despite being thrust into a leadership position, Zach is widely respected among his engineering staff and across the firm. His devotion to CSArch and to the engineering profession have been integral in winning repeat engineering work with clients including Hyde Park CSD, Queensbury UFSD, Ballston Spa CSD, and Guilderland CSD.
