DOD Awards $61.5 Million Contract for Aircraft Maintenance Facility Construction at Grand Forks AFB
BISMARCK, N.D. – The U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) has awarded a $61,492,477 contract to Korte Construction Company for the construction and renovation of an Aircraft Maintenance Facility at Grand Forks Air Force Base (GFAFB). The project, part of the Disaster Resiliency Program, will modernize the facility to meet evolving mission requirements. Construction is slated for completion by October 8, 2026.
“Grand Forks Air Force Base has seen continuous growth since 2010, and this contract is a critical step in ensuring our airmen are equipped with the modern infrastructure they need to address today’s challenges,” said U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND), a Senate Armed Services Committee (SASC) member.
Senator Cramer has consistently advocated for North Dakota's defense installations and partnerships. Recently, he oversaw the launch of the Space Development Agency (SDA) Operations Center North at GFAFB, engaged with the Grand Forks Base Retention Committee, and worked on collaborative efforts between the University of North Dakota (UND) and SDA to drive workforce development and security initiatives.
This renovation project is the latest in a series of investments that demonstrate the ongoing importance of GFAFB to national security and disaster readiness.
