Driver SPG Opens Second Rove EV Charging Station in Costa Mesa, Expanding Southern California Infrastructure
Costa Mesa, Calif. — Driver Special Projects Group (Driver SPG), an affiliate of C.W. Driver Companies, has completed and opened a large-scale electric vehicle charging station in Costa Mesa, marking its second collaboration with EV charging provider Rove.

The new facility, a 14-megawatt charging hub, reflects the growing demand for accessible and high-capacity EV infrastructure across Southern California. The 55,384-square-foot site combines advanced charging capabilities with a hospitality-driven design aimed at improving the overall user experience for EV drivers.
“The demand for more charging stations across Southern California is high,” said Mike Sosa, vice president at Driver SPG. “Rove’s charging stations provide a hospitality experience that keeps drivers safe, satisfied and engaged.”
High-Capacity Charging Meets Multi-Use Design
The Costa Mesa station features 40 DC fast chargers equipped with multiple connector types, including North American Charging Standard (NACS), Combined Charging System (CCS), and CHAdeMO plugs. This ensures compatibility with a wide range of battery electric vehicles, addressing a key barrier in EV adoption—charging accessibility.
Driver SPG’s scope included new construction for the charging infrastructure, alongside the adaptive reuse of an existing 5,384-square-foot structure. The building was transformed into a retail and amenity hub designed to accommodate drivers during charging sessions.
The site includes a ReCharge by Gelson’s mini market offering a curated grocery selection, as well as a lounge area, clean restrooms and complimentary Wi-Fi. This integrated approach reflects a broader industry trend toward combining infrastructure with user-centric amenities to enhance dwell time.
Hospitality-Focused EV Charging Experience
Rove’s model emphasizes comfort and convenience, positioning its facilities as more than just charging stations. The Costa Mesa location builds on that concept by delivering a full-service experience tailored to one of the nation’s most EV-active regions.
“At Rove, we are on a mission to offer the best charging experience in one of the most discerning regions in the country — Southern California,” said Bill Reid, CEO of Rove. “Developing public fast charging centers of this immense scale is no easy feat, and we required the help of expert builders to execute our vision. We are proud to have worked with Driver SPG for a second time to ensure our Costa Mesa center is one of the most reliable and accessible charging stations in the community.”
The facility is located at 2666 Harbor Blvd., Suite 115, in Costa Mesa, providing convenient access for both local residents and commuters traveling through Orange County.

Driver SPG continues to expand its footprint in EV and mixed-use infrastructure projects. Its portfolio includes similar developments such as the Rove Santa Ana charging station, the Sony Culver parking expansion, the Baja-Mex parking structure and retail center, and the Twenty by Six office-over-parking project.
Backed by more than a century of construction expertise through its parent company, C.W. Driver Companies, Driver SPG specializes in tenant improvements, renovations and new construction across multiple sectors. The firm operates throughout Los Angeles, Orange County, the Inland Empire and Ventura County.
As EV adoption accelerates across California, projects like the Rove Costa Mesa station highlight the evolving role of contractors in delivering not only technical infrastructure but also enhanced user experiences that support long-term growth in sustainable transportation.
