WILMINGTON, Del. — DuPont Performance Building Solutions and Corian® Design announced a major milestone in their journey toward sustainability, achieving a 93% reduction in Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in 2024 compared to a 2019 baseline. The achievement, revealed in the company’s newly released 2025 Sustainability Progress Report, underscores DuPont’s broader commitment to advancing net-zero strategies in the built environment.

“The entire team at DuPont is extremely proud of our 93% emissions reduction and the contribution it has made toward advancing our company’s net-zero GHG emissions commitment,” said Tim Lacey, global vice president and general manager, DuPont Performance Building Solutions & Corian® Design. “As we navigate an at times uncertain business environment, what remains clear is that our customers and stakeholders consistently expect strong sustainability performance. As the built environment faces continued pressure to decarbonize, we will continue to deliver low embodied carbon solutions that empower our customers to reach their sustainability goals.”

The company’s progress reflects its multi-pronged approach to sustainability, which includes reducing embodied carbon in key product lines such as Tyvek® HomeWrap®, Froth-Pak™ Foam Insulation and Sealant, and Styrofoam™ Brand XPS insulation. DuPont has also launched innovative solutions like Great Stuff™ Wide Spray Foam Sealant and Tyvek® Protec™ Peel and Stick Underlayment, designed to improve home weatherization and durability while cutting energy costs.

Transparency has been another priority. DuPont published an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) for its ArmorWall™ system, making it the first MgO insulated sheathing system with an available EPD. It also expanded its EPD portfolio to cover Great Stuff Pro™ Insulating Foam Sealants and Tyvek® Building Wrap, giving customers clearer data to guide sustainable material choices.

Circularity efforts gained traction as well. The Corian® Solid Surface fabricator scrap take-back program received 23,000 pounds of waste in 2024, up from 14,000 pounds in 2023, reflecting greater adoption of closed-loop practices across the value chain.

The business also earned recognition for its sustainability innovations, including:

  • The Heroes of Chemistry Award from the American Chemical Society for its low-GWP Styrofoam™ Brand XPS Insulation.
  • An R&D 100 Award and Gold Edison Award for the Tyvek® Trifecta™ A2 Fire-Rated Breather Membrane, which combines fire safety with energy efficiency.

By aligning product development with global decarbonization goals, DuPont is reinforcing its role as a sustainability leader in the construction and building materials industry. The company emphasized that these efforts are designed not only to help customers achieve their environmental objectives but also to make communities more resilient and energy-efficient.

DuPont Performance Building Solutions and Corian® Design are committed to advancing the next generation of building materials by prioritizing durability, resource efficiency, and responsible chemistry. This progress is part of DuPont’s broader ambition to reduce its environmental footprint across sectors including electronics, transportation, construction, water, healthcare, and worker safety.
