Groundworks® Commits to Create 5,000 New Skilled Trades Jobs in the U.S.

Largest workforce expansion in company history follows $31M employee dividend, positioning Groundworks as leader in employee ownership and trades career development.
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (March 23, 2026) – Groundworks, North America's leading foundation and water management solutions company, today announced a commitment to create 5,000 new skilled trades jobs over the next five years—the largest workforce expansion in company history.
The pledge follows the company's January distribution of approximately $31 million to nearly 5,000 employee-owners, demonstrating Groundworks' dual commitment to rewarding current teams while dramatically expanding opportunities for the next generation of trades professionals.
This expansion correlates to surging demand for foundation repair and water management services as America's aging housing stock faces increasing structural challenges. Over 1.5 million homeowners have received crucial repairs from Groundworks’ family of brands, dating back to 1972. As homeowners seek to protect property value and address critical needs, demand for Groundworks’ services continues to rise.
Not only is Groundworks creating opportunity, but it is also redefining career paths in the trades, offering a viable alternative to a four-year college degree, even for candidates with no prior experience. The company is seeking high-school-graduates, career changers, military veterans, women, and others from nontraditional backgrounds who are ready to build a lasting career.
“Our mission has always been to protect homes and the people who live in them. These 5,000 jobs mean homeowners across North America will have more access to the skilled professionals who can protect their greatest investment,” said Matt Malone, founder and executive chairman of Groundworks. “We give every employee ownership in our success, and we're proving the trades can offer real careers with real rewards. That's what sets us apart.”
The company provides growth opportunities and invests in comprehensive training and development programs that are historically unavailable to skilled tradesmen and women. Employees with the right attitude and determination can move into leadership positions, including foreman roles that can reach an average salary of $92,000 after just one year. Of the 5,000 jobs pledged, nearly 1,000 are leadership positions, reflecting the company’s commitment to building lasting careers and developing future leaders in skilled trades.
For the past two years, Groundworks has partnered with Mike Rowe, former host of the hit series “Dirty Jobs,” for the Go Below with Rowe series. Throughout his career, Rowe has shone a light on the skilled trades and the people who keep our country running. His partnership with Groundworks reflects a shared belief in the dignity of hard work and the importance of developing skilled trades leaders who will help fuel the future.
“Groundworks is growing at a time when a lot of companies are pulling back,” said Rowe. “But it’s not just that they’re growing — it’s how. They’re giving folks a real stake in the outcome. Not just creating jobs but building leaders. Anyone willing to show up, learn a skill, and take pride in their work gets a chance to own their success.”
Groundworks will continue to create new roles and opportunities for upward advancement over the next five years in both current and new locations. “This commitment is about investing in people who will be critical to that growth,” added Malone. “We’re looking for men and women who want to build careers and make an impact in their communities. Come join us.”
