Gulf Coast Town Center Invites Families to “Power Up for School” on August 8

Free community event features family entertainment, costume contest, children’s entrepreneur market, teacher recognition, and more
Fort Myers, FL (August 5, 2026) – Gulf Coast Town Center is inviting families from across Southwest Florida to celebrate the new school year at Power Up for School, a free community event taking place Saturday, August 8, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Courtyard.
Designed to bring the community together before students head back to class, the event will feature entertainment, family activities, giveaways, photo opportunities, and special promotions from participating Gulf Coast Town Center businesses.
One of the evening’s highlights will be the Superhero & Real Hero Costume Contest, where children are encouraged to dress as their favorite superhero or a real-life hero, including teachers, firefighters, police officers, healthcare workers, military members, or other everyday community heroes. Select participants will receive prizes.
Families can also visit the Children’s Entrepreneur Market, featuring more than 50 young entrepreneurs showcasing their businesses, products, and creative ideas while inspiring the next generation of business leaders.
The celebration will also include appearances by local first responders and community organizations, along with a special Lee or Collier county Teacher Appreciation Recognition.
Whether you’re shopping for back-to-school, looking for a fun family outing, or simply wanting to support local youth and educators, Power Up for School offers something for everyone.
Admission is free, and all ages are welcome.
