M/I Homes Donates $141K to Cancer Research Through Benefit Home Sale

SARASOTA, FL [Oct 9, 2025] — M/I Homes has once again demonstrated the power of purpose-driven development, raising $141,000 for Pelotonia, a nonprofit advancing cancer research, through the sale of a designated Benefit Home in the Sweetwater at Lakewood Ranch community.

What began as a construction initiative quickly evolved into a community-wide movement. Builders, trade partners, developers, and suppliers all contributed labor, materials, and financial support to maximize the charitable proceeds. Among the most notable partners was Schroeder-Manatee Ranch, Inc., the developer behind Lakewood Ranch, which donated more than $15,000 to the effort.

“We’re honored to be part of a cause that touches so many lives,” said Sandy Shahinian Levins, VP of Marketing for Schroeder-Manatee Ranch. “Cancer research is a cause close to our hearts, and we’re proud to join M/I Homes in making a difference.”

The check presentation took place during a recognition event on October 6, where Erika Walker, Philanthropy & Stewardship Manager for Pelotonia, accepted the donation.

“This generous contribution from M/I Homes and its partners continues to fuel our mission to end cancer,” said Walker. “Their commitment not only provides critical funding but also raises awareness and inspires others to get involved.”

Greg Crawford, president of M/I Homes Sarasota division, emphasized that the achievement was far more than a corporate transaction.
