New CASE Midi Excavators Combine More Muscle and Maneuverability to Boost Productivity on the Job

Racine, Wis., May 29, 2025 – CASE Construction Equipment has unveiled two new powerful additions to its compact excavator lineup: the CX85E and CX90E midi excavators. These new machines bring together robust power, tight-space maneuverability, and smart features designed to elevate productivity and precision across a wide range of jobsite conditions.

Ideal for contractors working on commercial or residential projects, landscapers requiring reliable trenching and grading solutions, or rental businesses looking to diversify their fleet offerings, the CX85E and CX90E provide the versatility needed for today’s evolving construction demands.

Versatile Powerhouses for Challenging Jobsites
The CASE CX85E and CX90E midi excavators are engineered to deliver maximum power in compact footprints. Each unit is powered by a strong 72-horsepower engine, making them suitable for tasks such as digging, lifting, grading, loading, and operating powerful hydraulic attachments. The CX85E weighs in at 19,467 lb (8,830 kg), while the CX90E comes in slightly heavier at 20,305 lb (9,210 kg).

Both machines come standard with a full hydraulic package, including auxiliary hydraulics, drain-to-tank functionality, and quick coupler circuits. These standard features support seamless use of a wide range of attachments—from buckets and thumbs to augers, grapples, hammers, and rippers—eliminating the need for costly aftermarket upgrades.

Designed for compact jobsites, the zero tailswing CX85E provides outstanding performance in tight conditions, such as work against walls or structures. Meanwhile, the CX90E features a swing boom with 180 degrees of movement, optimizing reach and dig depth for trenching and confined excavation.

Next-Level Operator Comfort and Control
CASE designed the CX85E and CX90E with the operator experience in mind. Each cab is among the roomiest in its class and includes premium features such as automatic climate control and a heated air-suspension seat. Visibility is enhanced through a well-positioned 7-inch LCD touchscreen display, while intuitive joystick controls help minimize fatigue and improve operational accuracy.

Adjustable electro-hydraulic controls come standard on both models, allowing operators to fine-tune lift and swing responsiveness to meet specific jobsite conditions or preferences. These customizable settings are particularly valuable when operating advanced attachments.

Made for Mastering Modern Jobsite Challenges
Built to thrive in today’s demanding jobsite conditions, the CASE CX85E and CX90E offer flexible configuration options. Contractors can choose from full rubber tracks, steel tracks in various widths, or steel tracks with rubber pads—tailoring the machine for jobsite terrain and mobility needs. Optional LED light packages enhance visibility for nighttime or low-light operation.

Maintenance is also simplified. A tilting cab provides direct access to hydraulic components, while wide service compartments, swing-out panels, and ground-level checkpoints enable quick and efficient routine inspections and servicing.
