
(WASHINGTON, DC, June 18, 2024)—The National Institute of Building Sciences (NIBS) Board of Directors has appointed Dr. George K. Guszcza, D.Eng, CPEM, CCM, as its new President and CEO, effective July 1, 2024.
Dr. Guszcza brings over 25 years of extensive experience in the built environment across public, private, and non-profit sectors in the U.S., UK, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. His previous role as Chief Transformation Officer at Michael Baker International involved spearheading enterprise-level strategic growth initiatives, go-to-market account plans, and digital transformation strategies.
Thomas H. Phoenix, Sr., Chair of the NIBS Board of Directors, expressed confidence in Dr. Guszcza's visionary leadership, emphasizing his role in advancing NIBS's mission to ensure safety and excellence in the nation's built environment.
Dr. Guszcza's career highlights include executive positions at Neal Richards Group and Adams & Associates, as well as founding and leading Aedifos Group, a multinational startup supporting healthcare initiatives such as the Nelson Mandela Children's Hospital.
His notable military service includes directing healthcare facility operations in Iraq under the Coalition Provisional Authority and Iraq Ministry of Health, overseeing the restoration of numerous hospitals and clinics.
Dr. Guszcza holds a Bachelor of Science from the United States Military Academy at West Point, a Master of Science from the University of Oxford's Said Business School, and a Doctor of Engineering from George Washington University.
