Crown Pointe Academy Plans Early Childhood Expansion in Westminster

Crown Pointe Academy, a public charter school in Westminster, Colorado, will soon break ground on a major expansion aimed at serving its youngest students. According to a news release posted on Business Wire, construction will begin next week on a new 26,000-square-foot facility dedicated to pre-kindergarten through second grade learners.
The new building, located across the street from Crown Pointe’s existing campus, will include 14 new classrooms and space for an additional 275 students. The $17 million project is being developed in tandem with the Uplands Colorado housing development, a major local project that is expected to add 2,200 homes to the Westminster area over the next several years.

The school’s leadership says the expansion will help meet growing demand in the community and offer more families access to its unique learning model.
“This expansion allows us to reach more young learners, strengthen school choice in our area, and continue our mission of preparing students to be confident, capable citizens,” said Crown Pointe Executive Director Keith Ouweneel.
As a charter school, Crown Pointe Academy operates independently of the local school district while still receiving public funding, allowing it to design specialized educational programs that emphasize innovation and personalized instruction. The expansion reflects the growing popularity of charter schools across Colorado, where many parents seek alternatives to traditional district-run schools.
The project’s design is being led by Colorado-based architecture firm EVstudio, with Roche Constructors serving as the general contractor.
The addition of the early childhood facility comes at a time when Westminster is experiencing rapid residential growth. The Uplands Colorado project, which is being developed on a 235-acre site, is one of the region’s largest planned communities and is expected to significantly increase local school enrollment in the coming years.
In addition to expanding its capacity, Crown Pointe Academy plans to continue focusing on individualized student learning, small class sizes, and a curriculum that emphasizes both academic rigor and social development.
