Construction leaders will get a practical look at how artificial intelligence can be incorporated into business operations when EV Construction President and CEO Mike Novakoski speaks at an upcoming American Subcontractors Association of Michigan event.
Scheduled for Sept. 23 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the program, titled “Building Smarter: The Executive’s Guide to Leading with AI,” is designed for owners, executives, field managers and other trade contractors exploring how AI can support organizational knowledge and decision-making.
The keynote will focus on moving beyond the idea of AI as an individual software application. Novakoski is expected to discuss how construction organizations can integrate AI into the way they operate, share information and make decisions.
A key focus will be institutional knowledge. Construction companies accumulate significant experience through estimators, project managers, superintendents and field personnel, but that knowledge can remain distributed across employees, project files and meeting records.
AI applications can help organizations capture and make that information more accessible across teams.
The session will also address how companies can establish an AI vision before selecting systems. That approach includes determining where AI can support operations and defining what successful implementation should accomplish.
The program will emphasize using AI to strengthen human capabilities rather than treating technology as a replacement for employees.
For construction organizations, that approach can include supporting creativity, judgment, strategic decision-making and client relationships while giving teams better access to information.
Novakoski brings more than 35 years of leadership experience and has written Right-Brain Justified and Become Unmistakable. His presentation will connect technology adoption with organizational culture and leadership.
The event is scheduled from 2 to 4 p.m. for the keynote and discussion, followed by networking from 4 to 5 p.m. It will be held at Thousand Oaks Golf Club at 4100 Thousand Oaks Drive NE in Grand Rapids. The event is limited to trade contractors.
