FORT MYERS, Fla. — Manhattan Construction Group has begun work on a new regional headquarters in Lee County, marking a significant relocation effort that will shift hundreds of jobs from Naples to Fort Myers.

The contractor recently held a ceremonial groundbreaking for the 53,000-square-foot office, which will be built at 14161 Jetport Loop. Once completed, the facility will serve as a centralized hub for the company and its affiliated entities, including Manhattan Road & Bridge, SafeZone and Spectrum Contracting.
The move represents a strategic investment in Southwest Florida as the firm looks to expand its footprint and better align operations with regional growth trends.
Company leadership emphasized that the new office will enhance collaboration and improve service delivery across the region.
Francis Rooney, chairman of Manhattan Construction Group and a former member of Congress, highlighted the long-term benefits of the relocation.
The new office positions the company “to better support the region’s evolving needs while reinforcing our long-term commitment to the communities we serve,” Rooney said in a statement.
According to company officials, the relocation will bring approximately 300 jobs to Lee County. Most of those positions are existing roles currently based in Collier County, though the move is expected to place employees closer to job sites and improve operational efficiency.
The firm has operated out of its Naples office since about 2013, when it purchased a 58,484-square-foot manufacturing facility along with additional land for $4.73 million.
The new site in Fort Myers spans roughly 3.4 acres and offers proximity to key transportation corridors, including Interstate 75, Daniels Parkway and Treeline Avenue. It is also located about four miles from Southwest Florida International Airport, a factor expected to support business travel and logistics.
Property records indicate the land was acquired in July by Rooney Real Estate Co. for $2.9 million. The company shares a Tulsa, Oklahoma, address with Manhattan Construction.
Construction on the new headquarters is expected to be completed sometime next year, further solidifying Lee County as a growing hub for construction and commercial activity.
Manhattan Construction, founded in 1896 by L.H. Rooney, maintains co-headquarters in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Southwest Florida. The company has a longstanding presence in the region and continues to expand its portfolio of high-profile projects.
Among its current major assignments is the University of South Florida’s on-campus football stadium in Tampa. The project spans 10 acres and is designed to seat 35,000 spectators, reflecting the firm’s capabilities in large-scale construction.
In addition to its Florida and Oklahoma operations, Manhattan Construction operates multiple offices nationwide and delivers a wide range of services, including general building, civil infrastructure, transportation, pipeline and specialty construction. The firm also maintains an international presence in Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean.
The company’s growth trajectory is underscored by its recent ranking as the No. 1 contractor on the Business Observer’s annual Top 50 list. It reported approximately 1,983 employees and $2.24 billion in gross revenue in 2025.
The relocation is expected to strengthen Manhattan Construction’s regional presence while contributing to economic activity in Lee County, even as it consolidates operations from neighboring Collier County.
The project highlights ongoing shifts within the construction industry as firms reposition resources, invest in new facilities and adapt to changing regional demands.
