Development of a major logistics facility at the Port of Nevada has reached key construction milestones as work progresses on a new industrial building designed to support growing freight and rail logistics operations.

Owner and operator Industrial Realty Group LLC recently announced that initial construction activities, including grading, foundation work and concrete wall erection, have been completed at the site.
The new 238,680-square-foot industrial facility is being built by ARCO National Construction and is expected to be ready for occupancy later this fall.
The new building will significantly enhance the logistics capabilities of the inland port located in Fernley.

Developers say the project is designed to accommodate large-scale industrial and distribution operations while supporting future development opportunities within the port’s 224-acre logistics complex.
The Port of Nevada serves as a strategic inland hub offering transloading services and rail-connected freight movement, allowing goods to transfer efficiently between rail and truck transportation networks.
One of the port’s major advantages is its direct intermodal rail connection to the Union Pacific Railroad network. The facility provides rail access to the Port of Oakland, enabling efficient freight movement between inland distribution centers and international shipping routes.
According to Industrial Realty Group, nearly 300,000 tons of cargo moved through the Port of Nevada in 2025, reflecting growing demand for inland logistics facilities tied to rail infrastructure.
"Companies looking to utilize the new building or construct a custom build-to-suit facility on site gain a distinct advantage in their supply chain by utilizing the rail heavyweight corridors," said Justin Lichter. "The right user could see over 30% savings in their supply chain cost."
Industry observers say inland ports such as the Port of Nevada are becoming increasingly important as companies seek to improve supply chain efficiency and reduce congestion at coastal ports.
By combining rail connectivity, highway access and large-scale industrial development, inland logistics hubs allow companies to move cargo more efficiently across regional and national markets.
The Port of Nevada’s location along key freight corridors makes it attractive for companies involved in manufacturing, distribution and international trade. The development of new facilities like the current industrial building helps expand the port’s ability to handle growing cargo volumes.
