Each year, ENR editors select the Design Firm of the Year based on a combination of revenue growth, creative project delivery and contributions to the communities served. PS&S stood out for its consistent expansion and its ability to align technical excellence with client needs across a range of projects.
The Warren, New Jersey-based firm reported $56.24 million in regional revenue in 2024, ranking No. 66 on the ENR East Design Firm list. The ranking evaluates firms across the Northeast, including states from Connecticut to Virginia, based on regional design service revenue.
PS&S attributes much of its recent success to its emphasis on local expertise and long-term client relationships. The firm highlighted its focus on delivering technically sound, fiscally responsible solutions that meet evolving project demands.
“By strengthening relationships with both existing and new clients, we have substantially increased our backlog coverage ratio, ensuring a stable foundation for continued growth,” the company said. “We’re proud to have promoted talented individuals from within our organization, and our leadership team is wholeheartedly embracing the ambitious goals we’ve set for ourselves.”
In addition to financial growth, PS&S has prioritized workforce development and organizational culture. The firm was previously recognized as one of the Best Places to Work by NJBIZ, underscoring its investment in employee advancement and retention.
The company’s acquisition strategy also reflects its broader mission, targeting firms that share a commitment to community service and cultural alignment.
PS&S has delivered a diverse portfolio of projects that demonstrate both technical expertise and social impact. Among its notable works is the Gordon H. Mansfield Veterans Village in Tinton Falls, New Jersey — a $29 million, 70-unit affordable housing development designed specifically for veterans.
The project incorporates workforce assistance, wellness services and transportation support, while also meeting Zero Energy Ready and LEED AP Home standards. Site development included complex stormwater management and integration with surrounding community infrastructure.

Another standout project is the rehabilitation of the historic Kay Evans House in Cherry Hill Township, New Jersey. During the design process, PS&S archaeologists uncovered evidence linking the site to the Underground Railroad, adding historical significance to the preservation effort.
The firm also played a key role in the multi-phase rehabilitation of the Essex County Parks Administration Building, guiding the project through historic preservation requirements while adapting the structure for modern use.
Beyond project work, PS&S has maintained a strong commitment to global and local community initiatives. Its partnership with Green Empowerment supported the delivery of clean drinking water to 100 families in Nicaragua, reflecting the firm’s broader mission of service.
The company emphasized that such efforts demonstrate how regional firms can create meaningful impact beyond their immediate markets.
As PS&S continues to grow, its recognition by ENR highlights the increasing importance of integrating design excellence, sustainability and community engagement in today’s construction landscape.
