The newly executed agreement builds on the team’s earlier $323 million contract awarded in September, bringing the total value of the Airfield and Terminal Modernization Program Roadway Improvements project to approximately $868 million. The work is part of LAX’s sweeping preparation for the 2028 Summer Olympic Games.

Under the latest contract, the joint venture will reconfigure more than 6 kilometers, or nearly four miles, of airport roadways. The scope also includes upgrades to traffic signals and the installation of advanced traffic monitoring systems designed to improve traffic flow, enhance safety and reduce congestion throughout the airport complex.

The earlier phase of work focused on replacing and reconfiguring 4.4 miles of roadway along Sepulveda Boulevard, a critical corridor that serves as a primary access point to the airport. That work is intended to better separate local traffic from airport-bound vehicles, easing bottlenecks and improving overall circulation around one of the nation’s busiest airports.

Together, the roadway improvements are a key component of LAX’s broader modernization initiative, a long-term capital improvement program expected to total $30 billion. The program encompasses terminal renovations, people mover systems, roadway upgrades and other infrastructure investments aimed at improving passenger experience and operational efficiency.

Construction on the roadway improvements began in July, with the full scope of work expected to reach completion in the fourth quarter of 2030, according to the project timeline. The extended schedule reflects the complexity of performing large-scale construction while maintaining operations at a major international airport.

The expanded contract underscores the growing scale of infrastructure investment underway at LAX as the airport positions itself to handle increased passenger volumes, major global events and long-term growth in air travel demand.
