Concord, California–based contractor Swinerton is entering 2026 with a notable leadership transition as longtime executive Don Adair prepares to retire, prompting a shift at the top of the company’s revenue and growth operations.

Adair, who currently serves as Swinerton’s chief revenue officer, will retire on Jan. 9, 2026, ending a nearly four-decade career with the firm. He first joined Swinerton in 1988 as a project engineer in the company’s Los Angeles office and went on to play a key role in expanding its regional and national footprint.
Over the years, Adair took on increasing responsibility, including leading growth efforts for Swinerton Builders’ San Diego office. His work there ultimately led to his appointment as executive vice president and chief revenue officer in 2019, according to the company.
Swinerton operates through several affiliated businesses, including Swinerton Builders, mass timber specialist Timberlab, concrete contractor SAK Builders and national investment firm Lindgren Development.

Following Adair’s retirement, Swinerton will elevate Chris Chany to succeed him in the CRO role. Chany joined Swinerton Builders in 2013 as a project manager in the firm’s Austin, Texas, office. In 2018, he relocated to San Diego, where he joined the company’s National Accounts team and currently serves as its director.
According to the company, Adair and Chany worked closely together for nearly a decade and coordinated extensively on the leadership transition after Adair’s retirement plans were shared internally with employee-owners in June.
“I am honored to step into this role and continue building on Don’s framework,” Chany said in the release. “Our focus will remain on building strong relationships, delivering extraordinary client experiences and driving growth for our teams and clients.”
The leadership change is part of a broader series of executive moves at Swinerton. In December, the company announced that William Silva would take on the role of director of national mass timber. Silva is also charged with establishing a mass timber center of excellence, an initiative aimed at strengthening integration between Swinerton and its mass timber affiliate, Timberlab.
Together, the recent appointments signal Swinerton’s focus on long-term growth, leadership continuity and expanding capabilities across emerging construction sectors as the company enters the new year.
