Pipeline contractors across North America will have a new point of contact for equipment and service coordination as Vermeer adds Matthew Barkdull as pipeline corporate accounts manager. Based in Cypress, Texas, Barkdull brings more than 17 years of experience spanning pipeline construction, equipment support and heavy equipment rental management.
His new role will focus on large corporate accounts and the equipment and service requirements associated with major pipeline operations. Barkdull will also work with Vermeer dealers and participate in industry events and association activities.
Barkdull most recently worked as a product representative with LaValley Industries, where he supported pipeline construction and horizontal directional drilling contractors across the southern United States.
Before joining LaValley, Barkdull spent nearly 17 years with PipeLine Machinery International, the global Caterpillar dealer serving the pipeline construction equipment market. He progressed from inside service coordinator to rental equipment manager during his tenure.
That experience provided exposure to pipeline contractors, equipment requirements and dealer operations on projects in multiple markets.
At Vermeer, Barkdull will develop sales and service strategies for corporate accounts operating across North America. His responsibilities will include understanding contractor operational requirements and connecting customers with equipment and support resources.
He will also coordinate field support with the Vermeer dealer network. The dealer network provides localized equipment sales, service and customer support, allowing national account strategies to connect with project-level needs.
Barkdull's background includes pipeline construction and heavy equipment rental, giving him experience across both equipment and contractor-support functions.
Pipeline projects often require equipment and support capable of operating across large geographic areas and demanding construction schedules. Equipment availability, service response and coordination between contractors, manufacturers and dealers can influence project productivity.
Barkdull's role places those considerations within Vermeer's corporate account structure. He will work directly with large contractors while helping coordinate resources through the company's dealer network.
He holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in technology management from Pittsburg State University and an Associate of Applied Science in diesel technology from Texas State Technical College.
The appointment adds specialized pipeline and equipment experience to Vermeer's corporate account organization. For large contractors, centralized account support combined with local dealer resources can provide a framework for coordinating equipment, service and field support across multiple projects and regions.
Barkdull's background in pipeline equipment and rental management also positions him to address operational requirements that extend beyond equipment sales, including service coordination and project support.
