Attentive.ai Expands Beam AI Platform, Delivering 90% Faster Takeoffs and Boosting Contractor Bid Capacity

Attentive.ai has expanded its Beam AI estimating platform, introducing new capabilities designed to significantly reduce takeoff time and enable contractors to pursue more project opportunities without increasing headcount.

The San Francisco-based company said the platform is now used by more than 1,200 contractors and suppliers across the U.S. and Canada. Beam AI has completed over 500,000 takeoffs and saved more than 20 million hours of manual estimating work, highlighting the growing demand for automation in preconstruction workflows.

The latest update introduces automated takeoffs that can generate estimate-ready material quantities from construction plans in approximately 10 minutes. The feature is currently live for HVAC and mechanical trades and is being rolled out for plumbing and structural steel.

Traditionally, estimators spend four to eight hours reviewing project plans and calculating material quantities. Even small errors can carry significant financial consequences.

A single takeoff can take 4–8 hours and leaves little room for error. A 2% mistake on a $10M job is a $200,000 loss. Contractors can only win the work they have time to bid. Beam AI changes that.

“We are now bidding 8 more projects/month without increasing our headcount and have recorded a revenue growth of $500K - $1M with increased bid capacity,” says Ryan Meers, Estimator/Project Manager at Bommarito Construction.

In addition to automation, the platform offers a “done-for-you” service that delivers QA-reviewed takeoffs within 24 to 72 hours, allowing contractors to focus on pricing and project strategy rather than manual measurements.

“With Beam AI, we’re saving 2 days of work/week. Our bid volume has doubled, and we’ve grown from $900K to $2M in just a couple of months,” says Bryan Ramirez, Senior Estimator at Rays Stairs Inc.

Expansion into bid management workflows

Beyond takeoffs, Beam AI is expanding into bid management with new tools such as Bid Dashboard and Bid Sniper. These features provide contractors with centralized visibility into bid pipelines, including deadlines, RFIs and addenda.

By integrating estimating and bid tracking, the platform aims to streamline workflows and help teams respond more quickly to opportunities.

“In construction, you can only win the bids you submit,” said Shiva Dhawan, co-founder and CEO of Attentive.ai. “We’re moving the industry from blueprint to bid in 24-72 hours, so contractors don’t miss out on bids or sacrifice on accuracy of estimates.”

The company said customers are already seeing measurable returns. Case studies highlighted include increased bid volume, reduced turnaround times and significant revenue growth across multiple firms.

As construction investment accelerates in sectors such as data centers, manufacturing and infrastructure, estimating capacity is emerging as a key bottleneck. Attentive.ai’s platform is designed to address that constraint by enabling contractors to scale bidding operations without adding staff.

Founded by engineers trained at Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, Attentive.ai entered the U.S. market during the COVID-19 pandemic and has since expanded its platform across more than 15 construction trades.

The company said its long-term goal is to help contractors move from plans to pricing faster and more efficiently, improving competitiveness in an increasingly fast-paced construction environment.
