BEHKO, a new player in the Southeast’s growing construction sector, has officially launched as a specialized design-build partner for highly technical commercial and industrial developments. The firm, founded by experienced engineers Jordan Behringer, P.E., and Razvan “Raz” Cojocaru, P.E., will serve clients across South Carolina and Georgia — with a strong focus on the rapidly expanding Greater Charleston region and extending to Orangeburg, Georgetown and Savannah markets.

The founders say the BEHKO brand formalizes a method they’ve already proven over decades: embedding deep engineering capabilities inside the construction process from the start. Their team has supported high-profile clients such as Kiawah Island Resort, Symrise, Hyundai, SC Ports, MUSC, Capital Development Partners and RealtyLink.

Experienced engineers lead the company

Behringer, a Clemson-educated structural engineer who began his career as an electrician’s apprentice, brings an engineering-first mindset to construction delivery. Cojocaru — a West Point graduate with advanced training from Virginia Tech — has executed infrastructure projects where millimeter-level tolerance is non-negotiable.

Together, they position BEHKO to navigate the Southeastern construction market’s rising complexity.

“Years of experience have proven that integrating engineering directly into the design-build process delivers better outcomes than relying on outside consultants and multiple layers of management,” said Behringer. “This launch formalizes that advantage.”

Precision construction in high-growth sectors

BEHKO plans to focus on projects where technical difficulty is a defining feature — not a problem to work around. This includes:

Advanced manufacturing and industrial facilities
Ports, logistics and distribution hubs requiring specialized engineering tools
Tilt-up systems in areas with unique geographical challenges
Healthcare and regulated environments such as MUSC projects
Hospitality developments that merge luxury finishes with robust structural requirements

Each category aligns with industries rapidly expanding across the Lowcountry, where major companies are investing in production, distribution, and tourism infrastructure.

Projects already brought to life

Recent work includes transforming a historic tomato packaging facility into a modern commercial destination in Johns Island — now Vinework Trade Park. The adaptive reuse project balanced heritage preservation with cost-efficient engineering strategies to maximize value.

The firm is also leading construction for RealtyLink’s new parking garage at North Charleston’s Uptown at Centre Pointe, applying the same structured, engineering-forward workflow.

“The Lowcountry is experiencing unprecedented growth, but that growth includes increasingly complex projects,” said Cojocaru. “Advanced manufacturing facilities. Sophisticated logistics hubs. These projects need partners who understand complexity isn’t something to manage — it’s something to master.”

A relationship-driven delivery model

The BEHKO approach prioritizes direct accountability through hands-on leadership. Clients work with senior engineers instead of navigating multiple intermediary layers. This allows the firm to focus on fewer projects with deeper engagement, producing thorough drawings and engineering-driven solutions early — reducing costly changes later.

“We measure our success not just by completed projects,” Cojocaru said, “but by clients saying, ‘I’m so glad we partnered with you.’ That’s only possible if you’re genuinely invested in their success.”

Behringer added that BEHKO aims to be the go-to name for technically demanding design-build work across the region. “We’re not building our reputation on signage or volume,” he said. “We’re building it on the quality of our work and the depth of our client relationships.”
